Rank Management Overview

This article explains the difference between SC and Non-SC ranks, how rank types affect reporting, and the importance of assigning a default security role.

Written by Cristiana Ghinea

There are two types of ranks in DutySheet: SC and Non-SC. One is used by volunteers and the other is used by non-volunteers.

📌 Note: Your organisation may use the terms Volunteer and Non-Volunteer instead of SC and Non-SC.

Most reports automatically exclude users with non-volunteer ranks so please make sure you select the right rank type when you are setting up a new rank.

You need to associate a rank with a default security role because the security roles determine what a user can and can't do on DutySheet.

In summary:

  • There are two types of ranks: SC and Non-SC, or Volunteer and Non-Volunteer.

  • Volunteer or SC ranks are the ones counted towards most operational reports.

  • Each rank needs a default security role.
