Cyber Volunteers

This article explains how to enter skills as a cyber volunteer, including entering availability and recording hours as a cyber volunteer.

Written by Cristiana Ghinea

Rather than having a standard list of skills you can select against your volunteer skills, DutySheet has a dynamic process for you to add your skills.

Entering Skills

To enter skills, please watch this video or follow the steps underneath:

  1. Go to My Skills and then click Cyber Volunteering Skills.

  2. Select the relevant top-level skill categories.

  3. Begin typing keywords relevant to the category. If the keyword exists it will automatically appear. If it doesn't exist in the database, it will be created.

    • Enter as many keywords as you can, but remember that not everyone searching for keywords will be as technically-experienced as you.

  4. Enter a short bio detailing your experience with each skills category.

Entering contact details

As a cyber volunteer, your contact details appear to all cyber volunteering managers in your region even if you've selected Ex-Directory.

Your details are also displayed to cyber volunteer managers outside of your force or region, but they won't have access to your contact details.
They'll need to contact the cyber volunteering manager for your force to get your contact details.

General availability

In your My Details page, you can use the General availability section to select which days of the week or time periods you are more likely to be available for cyber volunteering duties.

📌 Note: You selecting these boxes doesn't mean you're promising to be available, but that there is a more likely chance that you'll be available.

Recording hours

As a cyber volunteer, when you update, book on, or book off of a shift, you have an additional duty or shift type called Cyber Volunteer.

Please make sure you select this if you are on a cyber volunteering shift, to record your contributions accurately.
